If you’re the type who constantly misplaces keys, bags or even luggage while travelling, Apple’s AirTag is still one of the easiest solutions available today.
It’s small, simple, and integrates seamlessly with the Apple ecosystem. Attach one to your keys, drop it into your backpack, or slip it into your luggage – and your iPhone can help you find it in seconds.
With the latest AirTag update, Apple hasn’t changed the formula much. Instead, they’ve improved the things that actually matter: tracking range, accuracy, and ease of finding your items.
And honestly, that’s exactly what AirTag needed.

What the Apple AirTag actually does
At its core, an AirTag is a tiny tracker that connects to Apple’s Find My network.
Once paired with your iPhone, it lets you track the location of the item it’s attached to using the Find My app. If you leave something behind, you can quickly see where it was last detected.
The clever part is that AirTag doesn’t rely only on your phone. It also uses Apple’s massive global network of iPhones, iPads and Macs to help locate your item.
So if your luggage ends up across the airport, or your bag is left in a café, nearby Apple devices can anonymously detect the AirTag and update its location for you.
You’ll simply see it appear on the map.
Precision Finding makes locating items ridiculously easy
One of the standout features of AirTag is Precision Finding.
Using Ultra Wideband technology, your iPhone can guide you directly to the AirTag with on-screen arrows and distance indicators.
Instead of randomly searching your house, your phone literally tells you things like:
“3 metres away → move left.”
The latest version improves the range of Precision Finding, meaning your iPhone can detect and guide you to the AirTag from farther away than before.
In practice, this makes finding things like misplaced keys or bags much faster.
A louder speaker helps locate nearby items
Sometimes your missing item is technically “nearby”… but buried under a pile of clothes or hidden somewhere inconvenient.
AirTag solves this with a built-in speaker. You can tap Play Sound in the Find My app and the AirTag will start beeping.
The updated model features a louder speaker, making it easier to hear even if the tracker is inside a bag or wedged between couch cushions.

Setup takes less than a minute
Typical Apple fashion – setup is almost effortless.
Bring the AirTag close to your iPhone and a pairing prompt appears automatically. Tap connect, name the item (keys, backpack, luggage etc.), and you’re done.
From there it appears instantly in the Find My app.
No complicated setup, no extra apps.
Battery life is refreshingly simple
Unlike many trackers that require charging cables, AirTag runs on a standard CR2032 coin battery.
Apple estimates the battery lasts around one year, and replacing it takes about 10 seconds.
Just twist the back cover, swap the battery, and you’re good to go.
Small, durable, and easy to attach
AirTag is about the size of a coin and weighs only 11 grams.
It’s also IP67 water and dust resistant, meaning it can handle rain, splashes, or being tossed around in your bag without issues.
You’ll still need an accessory like a key ring or luggage loop to attach it, but there are plenty of inexpensive options available.
Yay or Nay?
Even with more Bluetooth trackers on the market today, AirTag still has one major advantage:
Apple’s Find My network.
Because millions of Apple devices are constantly helping locate lost items, AirTag simply has a much larger detection network than most competitors.
For iPhone users, that makes it one of the most reliable trackers you can buy.
It’s not flashy.
It’s not complicated.
But if your goal is simple – stop losing your stuff – AirTag still does the job extremely well. For its inexpensive price tag and functionality, it’s a hard yes from us.
