New Short Film: A Gift for Mum
With Mother’s Day coming up this Sunday, Apple released a new short film ‘A Gift for Mum‘ to showcase the incredible power of spatial video and imagery. This short film brought involuntary tears to my eyes.

The short film features parents Sam and Khulan, who painstakingly captured the first year of their child’s life in spatial video on iPhone to watch on Vision Pro. This reminds me of how spatial video and imagery allows you to relive moments you’d never get to experience again – over and over again on Vision Pro. It takes your right back to that exact moment that video or photo was captured, and the feelings rushes over you all at once.
How to Capture Spatial Photos and Videos on iPhone
If you have not tried this out before, here are some tips on capturing spatial content on iPhone 15 Pro, Pro Max and newer iPhone models.
For Spatial Video:
Open the Camera app > Switch to Video mode > Tap the Spatial Video icon (Vision Pro icon) > Rotate the iPhone to landscape orientation > Start recording your spatial video
For Spatial Photos:
Open the Camera app > Swipe left to select ‘Spatial’ mode from the viewfinder > Rotate the iPhone to landscape orientation for the best results > Capture your spatial photos
