Technics EAH-AZ80E – Yay or Nay?

It’s not everyday that you would be looking for a new pair of earbuds, but on the rare occasion that you are looking to try something new out, the Technics EAH-AZ80E might be worth a try.

Overall Look & Feel

The new plastic-free packaging is light and classy, holding the premium looking (and feeling) earbuds charging case and its accessories. The Technics EAH-AZ80 earbuds is easily one of the more premium feeling earbuds I’ve reviewed thus far, and the earbuds are smooth and comfortable to wear.

What’s in the Box

The earbuds are encased in a sleek charging case, and the box comes with 1x USB-C 0.2m Charging Cord, and an elaborate set of Earpieces that has 6 additional fits. I found the 0.2m USB-C Charging Cord rather convenient, eradicating the fuss of having an overly long charging cable messing up your desk setup.

With the Technics Audio Connect App that is available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, the app will prompt you when setting up to find the right fit for your listening pleasure by adjusting the fit of the earpieces accordingly.

Audio Quality

Upon finding the right fit, listening to music treated me to an audio experience that was rich and crisp. In Technics’ description – ‘the large 10mm free-edge aluminium alloy diaphragms offer an enhanced low-distortion bass response’, which loosely translates to a comfortably heavy bass audio experience. The Technics wireless earbuds features Dual-hybrid Active Noise-Cancelling, which allows for an uninterrupted Hi-Fi sound quality while listening to your favorite music.

I tried it out while taking a call with a friend, and while I could hear the voice on the other end clearly while in a noisy environment, I was told that I sounded clear with the noise in the background barely even audible over the call.

Smart Features

With the Multipoint Connection feature, I was able to seamlessly switch between 3 devices with the EAH-AZ80E. Using the Technics App, customizing the touch sensors to my preference was fuss-free.

Battery Life

I tested out the battery life of the earbuds, and I was able to comfortably listen to my music for up to 6-7 hours of intermittent use throughout the day with ANC on, and medium volume usage. It is said that you can enjoy a 24 hours back-up battery life with the case, and a quick charge would yield you a 70-minute runway of playback.

Technics EAH-AZ80E Qi-Charging

What I particularly liked about the earbuds was the fact that the case can be recharged easily with any Qi-compatible charger for fast wireless charging.

Yay or Nay?

In my opinion, the Technics EAH-AZ80E is easy to use, and comfortable to accompany one’s daily life. This could be a yay if you are looking to try something new, but this would definitely take some getting used to as functions such as the customization of the touch-sensors will require you to use the Technics Audio Connect App to do so.
