M2 Pro: Upping The Ante for Pro Workflows
Tapping on a second-generation 5-nanometre process technology, M2 Pro consists of 40 bullion transistors – approximately 20% more than M1 Pro, and twice the amount in M2. Harnessing 200GB/s of unified memory bandwidth (twice that of M2), and up to 32GB of low-latency unified memory, this next-generation 10 / 12-core CPU encompasses up to eight high-performance cores and four high-efficiency cores. This delivers a multithreaded CPU performance, up to 20% faster than the 10-core CPU in M1 Pro.

M2 Max: The World’s Most Powerful & Efficient Chip for a Pro Laptop
Imagine having a machine with the world’s most powerful chip that pushes the performance and capabilities to its limits and possibly beyond. M2 Mac harnesses 400GB/s of unified memory bandwidth (twice that of M2 Pro), 4x that of M2, and boasts up to 96GB of fast unified memory. This allows you to open massive files almost instantly, and take multitasking to the next level with different pro apps working at the same time.
With the same next-generation 12-core CPU as M2 Pro, the GPU is even more powerful with up to 38 cores – and is paired with a bigger L2 cache. Harnessing 96GB of memory, the new MacBook Pro with M2 Max can now handle graphics-intensive projects, with graphics speed now being boosted up to 30% faster than M1 Max.

Updated Custom Technologies
Both M2 Pro and M2 Max include Apple’s next-generation, 16-core Neural Engine, boasts the capability of handling 15.8 trillion operations each second, and up to 40% faster than the previous generation.
M2 Pro owns an intensely powerful and efficient media engine that includes hardware-accelerated H.264, HEVC, and ProRes video encode / decode, which allows seamless playback of multiple streams of 4K and 8K ProRes video.
M2 Max has two video encode engines, and two ProRes engines, bringing up to 2x faster video encoding than M2 Pro.
