The iPhone 16e is perfect for so many different types of people. Hear me out.
With the massive upgrades that comes with the iPhone 16e, as compared to say, the iPhone 11, there are tons of functions and features that are bound to make you go ‘wow’. This would be a good choice for users who are new to Apple ecosystem, people who are looking to get the iPhone 16 for their children but prefer an entry-level device, or people who are looking to upgrade from an iPhone 11 or the 3rd-gen iPhone SE.

Overall Look & Feel
The latest addition to the iPhone 16 lineup feels light and compact to fit into one’s pocket comfortably, and most notably comes with the Action button, but no Camera Control. The iPhone 16e comes in the classic gorgeous matte finish, and is available in both Black and White. Looking at it for the first time, it kind of reminds me of the iPhone 14.

Display
The 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display, powered by OLED technology, stretches edge-to-edge – making everything from HDR videos and games to text look sharp, vibrant, and immersive. The Super Retina XDR reaches a peak brightness of 800 nits, and can push up to 1,200 nits for viewing of HDR photos or videos. You’d also be happy to know that the iPhone 16e can be unlocked with Face ID.

Performance
The latest iPhone comes with features powered by the tech giant’s latest-generation A18 chip, which, in line with everything Apple does, provides users with a fast and smooth performance. The iPhone 16e is performs up to a whopping 80% faster than the A13 Bionic chip on iPhone 11. This powers tasks tapping on Apple Intelligence to be that much more efficient.

With a powerful 4-core GPU, you get stunning graphics and a whole new level of mobile gaming – whether you’re playing visually intense AAA titles or experiencing ultra-realistic lighting and reflections with hardware-accelerated ray tracing. The 16-core Neural Engine is a powerhouse, handling advanced machine-learning models up to 6x faster than the A13 Bionic chip, making everything feel faster and smarter.
C1 is the first modem designed by Apple to deliver fast and reliable 5G cellular connectivity.

Action Button
The tech giant first introduced the Action button to the two Pro models of the iPhone 15 series, and subsequently, the entire iPhone 16 lineup got an Action button. Now, the Action button comes to iPhone 16e – and this will definitely change the way you interact with your iPhone (if you have not yet experienced the power of the Action button).

Apple Intelligence
Apple Intelligence puts the extraordinary in your ordinary and mundane daily tasks. From Writing Tools, to Siri, to Mail and more, there is so much more you can do with your iPhone 16e than just the normal stuff. Writing Tools is an amazing Apple Intelligence powered function that enables you to unlock different ways of phrasing something, get a quick summary or even help you change the entire chunk of text to something else. Siri can now follow your requests even if you change your mind halfway through one – talk about intelligent. In Mail, you can now quickly view Priority messages, preview summaries, and use Smart Reply to have Mail help craft the perfect response. In Photos, leverage the Clean Up tool to remove any pesky distractions from that perfect picture of your subject, and more.
Apple Intelligence will be available in English (Singapore) this April.

Visual Intelligence
You can easily customize this in Settings, and select from a variety of useful shortcuts that can be set as your Action button. Visual Intelligence is rather handy, especially when you need to quickly summarize and copy text, translate text, detect phone numbers or email addresses, identify a certain species of your favorite animal or plant, and so much more. Visual Intelligence allows you to quickly search Google to see where you can purchase something, or simply tap on ChatGPT’s revolutionary problem-solving capabilities. As always, you are in full control of the information you share with third-party tools.

Fusion Camera
The 2-in-1 Fusion camera is a pretty interesting choice, but given this is an entry-level iPhone (RIP iPhone SE), the custom-designed 48MP camera is definitely adequate to capture great detailed photos.

The iPhone 16e comes with a 2x Telephoto lens – easily allowing you to toggle from 1x Zoom to 2x Zoom while capturing your everyday moments. Videos can be recorded in 4K with Dolby Vision up to 60 fps, and with iOS 18, you get to pause and resume any recording.
Battery Life
The iPhone 16e is touted to have the best battery life of any 6.1-inch iPhone – which is pretty impressive, given that it can last up to 6 hours longer than the iPhone 11 and up to 12 hours longer than any iPhone SE. The iPhone 16e does not support MagSafe, but Fast Charging is supported through the fast charging cable. Thanks to Apple silicon – including the all-new C1 – along with a brand-new internal design and smarter power management in iOS 18, you get exceptional battery life that keeps up with your day.

The iPhone 16e will be available in both classic White and Black, in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage capacities. Prices start at S$949.
