The biggest video game show in Europe, Gamescom, just concluded last Friday. If you have been too busy to keep track, we have rounded up the best games of the show. Many of them are launching either later this year or in early 2022.
Halo Infinite

The original Halo first-person shooter (FPS) game was credited for launching the career of Microsoft’s first Xbox gaming console. And Halo Infinite is supposed to be flagship game of the new Xbox Series X console launched last year. The game has unfortunately been delayed until now. It finally has a release date during Gamescom 2021 – 8 Dec, 2021.
However, there is no news about the single-player mode but only a multiplayer trailer during the show. Not to mention, it has been understood that the co-operation and Forge modes will not be in the game at launch. So, it might be a while before Halo fans get the full installation of this next Halo iteration.
Elden Ring

This new role-playing game (RPG) gains much attention as it is a collaboration between fantasy author George R. R. Martin of Game of Thrones’ fame and From Software, famous of its Dark Soul series. In other words, it will be combining the depth of Mr Martin’s lore with From Software’s amazing ability to craft an open virtual world.
Eldren Ring will feature vast landscapes and complex dungeons that are inter-connected. You can traverse the breathtaking game world on foot or on horseback, alone or online with friends. There is a wide array of weapons, magical abilities and skills to be found and experimented. You can choose to head straight to the battle or use stealth to exterminate your enemies. The choice is yours.
Far Cry 6

In this next iteration of Ubisoft’s long-running Far Cry series, you are Dani Rojas. She joins a guerrilla army that strives to bring down Anton Castillo – the dictator of her homeland Yara – played by Breaking Bad actor Giancarlo Esposito.
As you might expect from Far Cry series, there will be some over-the-top weapons to cause maximum carnage and mayhem to your enemies while you try to negotiate through the perils on the lawless island of Yara. Plus, its DLCs will allow you to play villains from previous Far Cry games.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns
Platforms: Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Windows
Release date: Mar, 2022
Can’t get enough of Marvel Universe? Come Mar 2022, you can play in an all-new tactical RPG set in the darker side of the Marvel Universe.
In this tactical RPG, you play as the Hunter, the forsaken child of Lilith, Mother of Demons, who was revived after centuries of Slumber by Hydra. The Hunter will band together with the Midnight Suns consisting of Nico Minoru, Blade, Magik, and Ghost Rider, whose powers are deeply rooted in the supernatural. These powers are much needed to defeat Lilith. However, not much is known about the actual gameplay. But there will be a gameplay reveal on 1 Sep. And we can’t wait.
Forza Horizon 5

Now that we still cannot travel, you might want to broaden your horizons with Forza Horizon 5 racing game. Unlike its racing simulator cousin Forza Motorsport, the Forza Horizon series is more action than simulation.
With Forza Horizon 5, you get to explore the open world landscapes of Mexico from harsh deserts to lush jungles and from vast canyons to pristine beaches. You will drive super cars like Mercedes-AMG One or humble SUVs like the 2021 Ford Bronco in different weather conditions, from torrential downpours to dust storms. You can explore the world without leaving your seat, quite literally.
Call of Duty: Vanguard

For World War II (WWII) aficionados, Call of Duty: Vanguard is a first-person shooter game spanning four theatres of WWII in a unified single-player narrative. You will be playing four characters: Private Lucas Riggs of 20th Battalion, Australian 9th Infantry Division, British Eighth Army; Sergeant Arthur Kingsley of the 9th Parachute Battalion, British Army; Lieutenant Wade Jackson of Scouting Squadron Six, United States Navy and Lieutenant Polina Petrova of the 138th Rifle Division, Soviet Red Army.
Not to mention, Call of Duty: Vanguard will 20 multiplayer maps available at launch with 16 maps built for core gameplay. In addition, the game will introduce an all-new Zombies game mode. This co-operative game continues and intertwines with the Dark Aether story and lets you discover the horrors of the precursor to Black Ops Cold War Zombies. Basically, some reasons to kill these zombies like you need one in the first place.
Park Beyond

If you are not a RPG or FPS kind of gamer, maybe you will be interested in building a theme park? Park Beyond might just be the game you need. It is modern theme park game that allows you to create “impossified” rides.
In other words, you can customise and modify rides that are so crazy only this game will allow you to build. Your creativity is the only limit! There is also a deep park management gameplay as well as a story mode where you will get to meet a colourful cast of characters, allies and enemies.
