First Looks: AT-LP70XBT Bluetooth Turntable

If you’re on a budget and in the market for an easy turntable to set up, Audio-Technica’s latest offering, the upgraded AT-LP70XBT might be the one you’re looking for.

With options for traditional wired speakers or Bluetooth connection, the ease of setting up along with good sound quality is definitely a welcome plus for the turntable. Choosing either the full size 12” vinyl or smaller 7” EP size made by a lever makes it very convenient, allowing users to simply push play and the arm will know where to start.

The turntable comes with a speed switch for playing both 33 1/3 and 45 rpm records, as well as a start-stop button. The AT-LP70XBT also has a long, J-shaped tonearm designed to track better than a straight tonearm. Audio-Technica has included an upgradeable stylus, which is definitely a pleasant surprise.

With the ports neatly parked at the back side of the player, the AT-LP70XBT uses stereo RCA output, and it comes with a ground lug to help minimise hum. Users have the choice to either connect the unit to a speaker or to a third-party preamp for better sound quality.

The AT-LP70XBT is perfect for buyers that are looking for their first record player and don’t want to stress about additional phono amps or wired speakers that might not have the correct cables.

Quite literally being a plug and play device that can wirelessly connect to existing Bluetooth speakers in the household. Options for later upgrades or mid-level users that want to use phono amps or upgrade to an improved cartridge is also possible. The AT-LP70XBT comes in three colours and retails for S$339.
