The all-new iPad Pro, powered by the M2 chip is by far the strongest iPad in the family, and here are some reasons why it’s time to upgrade your current iPad, to the iPad Pro.

M2 Chip

Powered by the start of Apple’s next generation of M-series chips, the M2 Chip, brings an unparalleled breakthrough performance and a suite of capabilities to iPad Pro.

M2 harnesses an 8-core CPU – up to 15% faster than M1 – with enhancements in both performance and efficiency cores, and a 10-core GPU, delivering up to 35% faster graphics performance Perfect for avid gamers, or those who loves to watch hours upon hours of their favourite reality TV over the weekend. Like me.

Combined with the CPU and GPU, the 16-core Neural Engine is capable of processing 15.8 trillion operations per second – 40% more than M1 – making iPad Pro one of the most powerful iPads in the fold, when handling machine learning tasks.

The M2 chip also features 100GB/s of unified memory bandwidth – 50% more than M1 – and supports up to 16GB of fast unified memory. Being a multitasker who handles a large volume of work and assets on the iPad, this is definitely something I was looking forward to!

Perfect For All Industries

Boosted by the M2 chip, the now supercharged iPad Pro is able to tackle all the most demanding and difficult tasks in all industries – from photographers editing massive photo libraries and designers working on complex 3D objects, to healthcare professionals taking advanced imaging and analysis, to gamers enjoying graphic-heavy games.

What’s cool is that the power of M2 allows the new media engine and image signal processor to combine effortlessly with the advanced cameras to enable you to capture ProRes video and transcode ProRes footage up to 3x faster. All for the first time. This is probably one of the cool upgrades that content creators can look forward to – especially when it’s a promise of being able to capture, edit, and publish cinema-grade video from a single device from wherever you are.

Apple Pencil Hover Experience

In perfect harmony with the new iPad Pro and iPadOS 16, hover your Apple Pencil (2nd generation) up to 12mm above the display, and the new iPad Pro will detect it and forecast a preview of your mark, before you even make it. This allows you to sketch and illustrate with greater precision, with no fuss at all.

Lightning Fast Wireless Connectivity

The all-new iPad Pro now supports the fastest Wi-Fi connections, with support for Wi-Fi 6E – so you can now work on quicker connections to complement your demanding workflows everywhere. Downloads are now up to 2.4Gb/s, a whopping 2x faster than the previous generation. Wi-Fi + Cellular models with 5G now support even more 5G networks around the world – allowing you to stay connected anytime, anywhere. This is actually extremely useful for me as I’m guilty of being super impatient with slow download times.

Desktop-class apps enable new capabilities optimised for the display on iPad Pro — making apps more capable with new elements and interactions, including a consistent undo and redo, a redesigned inline find-and-replace experience, a new document menu, customisable toolbars, and the ability to change file extensions, view folder size in Files, and more.

Reference Mode enables the 12.9-inch iPad Pro with Liquid Retina XDR display to match the colour requirements in workflows like reviewing and approving, colour grading, and compositing, where accurate colours and consistent image quality are critical. That means pro users, including photographers and videographers, can edit HDR images and videos with every true-to-life detail right in their hands, and cinematographers on set can preview content in a colour profile that represents the final capture.
