Apple Macbook Air M3: First Looks

Apple has introduced the latest MacBook Air featuring the powerful M3 chip, elevating its impressive blend of power-efficient performance and portability to new heights. With the M3, the MacBook Air boasts up to 60% faster speeds compared to the M1 model and up to 13 times faster speeds than the fastest Intel-based MacBook Air.

The new MacBook Air’s durable aluminium unibody enclosure ensures longevity and is available in four attractive colours: Midnight (featuring a breakthrough anodisation seal to reduce fingerprints), Starlight, Space Grey, and Silver. Combined with its top-notch camera, microphones, and speakers, MagSafe charging, silent, fanless design, and the latest macOS Sonoma, the MacBook Air offers an unparalleled user experience.

Both the 13- and 15-inch MacBook Air models showcase a sleek and lightweight design, providing up to 18 hours of battery life. They also feature a stunning Liquid Retina display and new functionalities, including support for up to two external displays and up to 2 times faster Wi-Fi than the previous generation. Today we’ve got the 13″ Macbook Air in Midnight and we’re excited to share the best features for our first looks.

M3 Chip

Utilising cutting-edge 3-nanometer technology, the M3 chip enhances the performance and capabilities of the MacBook Air even further. With the game-changing 8-core CPU, up to a 10-core GPU, and the ability to support up to 24GB of unified memory, the new MacBook Air delivers up to 60% faster speeds than the M1 model and up to 13 times faster speeds than the fastest Intel-based MacBook Air.  I definitely felt the experience of the exceptional speed of the M3 chip in everything from everyday productivity to creative tasks like photo and video editing.

With the next-generation GPU of the M3 chip, the new MacBook Air now supports hardware-accelerated mesh shading and ray tracing. This enables more precise rendering of lighting, reflections, and shadows, making incredibly realistic gaming experiences on a portable Mac a reality once again.

The M3 MacBook Air offers up to 18 hours of battery life, which is six hours longer than that of the much older sibling, the Intel-based MacBook Air.

Portable Powerhouse

With a durable aluminium enclosure that’s built to last, both the 13″ and 15″ MacBook Air have fantastic battery life, are incredibly light, and are less than half an inch thin, so users can work, play, or create from anywhere. The 13” model provides the ultimate in portability, while the 15” model offers even more screen real estate for multitasking if that’s what you need. There’s a perfect size for everyone, from students on the go to business professionals who prefer a larger screen.

Double Dose of Display

The MacBook Air featuring the M3 chip now allows for the connection of up to two external displays even when the laptop lid is closed. This feature is ideal for anyone needing multiple displays for multitasking across apps or viewing documents and watching your favourite videos simultaneously. Who said multitasking cannot be both fun and efficient at the same time?

Multimedia Maestro

The MacBook Air is equipped with a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, ensuring you look your bestest best during video calls with friends, family, or colleagues worldwide. Additionally, the laptop features a three-microphone array for enhanced voice clarity on both audio and video calls.

For an immersive audio experience, the MacBook Air includes a sound system that supports Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos. This allows users to enjoy three-dimensional soundstages for music and movies, further enhancing the engaging audiovisual experience.
