Construction
The metal unibody that’s only 490g and 6.51mm thin means that the Xiaomi Pad 6 is light but feels well constructed. Sometimes when brands roll out light devices, they tend to feel cheap and a little plasticky but definitely not for the Xiaomi Pad 6. The metal unibody feels very polished and well-made.
Packing a Snapdragon 870 chip with 8GB LPDDR5 RAM and an onboard storage of 256GB, you can be sure that all the apps that you’re running will be smooth as butter. Store your media and preloaded shows right on the device with the spacious 256GB storage that comes included.
The battery life is really impressive for the Xiaomi Pad 6. My ultimate make-or-break for any portable device is how long it can stay juiced. The 8840mAh battery can last up to 2 days according to Xiaomi and 26+ days on standby. And if you’ve run out of juice, the 33W Fast Charging can bring you back up to 100% in under 100 minutes. That’s really impressive and definitely a green flag for me.
Screen and Audio
The 11-inch, 2.8K resolution with 144Hz adaptive refresh rate for the Xiaomi Pad 6 ensures that everything that you consume, from mobile games to your favourite action movies, on the Xiaomi Pad 6 is crisp and super sharp. Along with its 309 pixel per inch (ppi) pixel density and HDR10, photos and videos on the screen look as good as they can be.
Whether you’re watching a movie or just chilling and listening to music, the Quad speakers, with Dolby Atmos support, offers an immersive audio straight from the Xiaomi Pad 6. I didn’t have much expectations coming for the audio coming out of a portable device but this one changed my mind. Speech from dialogues are clear without sounding tinny. Music being played from the device also sound coherent and really enjoyable.
Camera
If you’re using the Xiaomi Pad 6 for video calls, the placement of the 8MP front facing camera being in the middle of the device and not on the shorter side of it makes a whole of lot difference. Especially when the Xiaomi Pad 6 is horizontal, attached to the keyboard. The rear camera with 13MP that packs an f2.2 aperture takes great photographs even in low light.
Accessories
The Xiaomi Pen is the perfect companion for taking quick notes or working on creative tasks whether or not its for work or play. The magnetic charging pen has a 150 hour battery life and charging up takes up very little time. 1 minute of charge gives it 7 hours of battery life.
But even if you’re used to working from a laptop and still getting used to a portable setup, the Xiaomi Pad 6 Keyboard allows you to feel right at home. The 1.3mm key travel and the compact 64 key layout makes you feel like you’re still working from a full sized machine.
Productivity
Power users will definitely feel right at home while on the Xiaomi Pad 6 MIUI 14 for Pad. Split Screen and floating windows allows the power user to be able to be the most productive that they are on-the-go. Easily have a video playing in the other screen while working on your e-mails or catching up on the latest news. Connect to a bigger screen with a HDMI to USB-C cable for a full screen experience at 4K 60fps.
Conclusion
Being super lightweight and portable allows the Xiaomi Pad 6 to easily be portable and carried around. It’s battery life is able to sustain for more than a day, and when you need a quick top up, the Fast Charge makes it easy to stay juiced up.
