There are many reasons why you should be running a 4K monitor especially if you’re gaming. If you’re thinking about whether or not you should get a 4K monitor, the short answer is YES.
Just because your game cannot run in 4K does not mean you’re not benefiting from a 4K monitor. Comparatively, games will look better running low settings on 4K than high settings in 1080p.
Productivity and Screen Real Estate
Outside of gaming, you’ll still get the benefit of having screen real estate and being productive. Opening multiple windows and each one of them having an area on your screen, has its advantages.
Different sizes for different setups/Bigger Isn’t Always Better
Depending on your setup, you will be needing different size monitors. Contrary to popular belief, bigger isn’t always better. The table below shows the different viewing distances for different monitor sizes and resolutions.
As you can see, the bigger the monitor, the further you will have to sit away from the monitor. If you’re sitting too close to the monitor, your field of vision is not optimised and you won’t be able to enjoy everything that’s being presented to you on screen.
BenQ has got you covered with their line of 4K MOBIUZ gaming monitors in 3 different sizes, for your different setups. They all come with HDRi technology, and treVolo tuned built in speakers, so you know you will be getting an immersive experience when you’re playing AAA games.
EX2710U
The EX2710U is a 27” 4K monitor that’s the best fit for compact and smaller setups that requires about 0.42m minimum viewing distance, which is realistically a little less than an arm’s length. If you’re looking for a 4K monitor to fit into a smaller space that has all the bells and whistles of BenQ’s HDRi technology and immersive sound from the 2.1 channel speaker with 5W woofer, tuned by treVolo.
Is HDRi a big deal?
HDR increases contrast and details with brightness effects. By introducing custom modes suited to different content, BenQ HDRi lets you match the effect to what you’re watching. The graph below shows how brightness and contrast vary between modes. These subtle differences take the viewing experience from ordinary to extraordinary.
HDR refines details by raising brightness and this can result in overexposed whites on the display. With HDRi, details are being preserved including more saturated and vivid colours that increase richness, all adding to the whole immersive experience with the BenQ HDRi technology.
EX3210U
The EX3210U is the middle child of the 4K monitors. 32” monitors are just nice for most setups, with the minimum viewing distance to be 0.51m. If you don’t always have a measuring tape on you, that’s about an arm’s length, which is about the average depth of a study table. Scenario mapping makes it easy to switch between display inputs especially if you’re gaming on multiple gaming consoles on the same screen. Not forgetting HDRi technology and treVolo technology for the ultimate immersive audio and visual experience. If you’re always chatting with teammates in-game, then the AI-noise cancelling microphone will be something you’ll look forward to.
Especially in a gaming setting like Hogwarts Legacy, details stay crisp on display without being blinding during gameplay. Darker forested scenes remain clear and visible, striking a balance with livelier outdoor day scenes in the sun.
Speakers like no other
These monitors come packed with treVolo speaker technology. In case you’ve never heard of it before, it features a player-specific surround sound field and special sound mode for different game types, configuring high-middle and bass settings.
Aside from gaming, treVolo speaker technology also adds to the immersion and enjoyment of watching live music with great tonality and fidelity. It’s especially enjoyable for movie buffs with its additional 2.1 channel amplifier 5W subwoofer, making sure every dramatic explosion is not only seen but felt by the viewer.
EX480UZ
If you’re looking to pick up BenQ MOBIUZ flagship top of the line model, then this one’s for you. The EX480UZ, is the biggest monitor of all three 4K monitor selections. Coming in at 48” and the only one with OLED, you get to see even the smallest of details.
Jam packed with all of BenQ’s best technologies – HDRi, Light Tuner, Scenario Mapping (perfect for multi-platform gaming) and 2.1 ch 5W 2+10W woofer for an even more immersive experience.
OLED and why it makes a difference
Traditionally, LEDs in display screens act as individual pixels, allowing for the flat screens and bright monitors consumers have come to expect from modern monitors. OLED, which stands for Organic Light Emitting Diode, is a recent advance in LED display technology.
What makes it different is that OLED turns off when not in use, allowing the screen to render perfect black levels. And since OLED monitors don’t need backlight like LED monitors, it allows for thinner and lighter screens.
Coupled with BenQ’s HDRi technology, you get the best of both worlds with vibrant colours and adaptive brightness, making sure whatever content being presented is as vivid and immersive as it can be.
Diablo IV Gameplay Experience
In games like Diablo IV, it is important to be able to see in the dark depths of dungeons, and this is where OLED and BenQ’s HDRi technology shines. The true black levels from OLED preserves the dark atmosphere, with HDRi technology making sure that brighter fire elements don’t end up blinding viewers at the same time. Images and visuals are clearer without straining the eyes.
Scenario Mapping
Scenario Mapping works well on both PC and console, so gamers that are on multiple gaming platforms don’t have to worry about compatibility. The best part of the technology is it self-adjusts to the video input signal and automatically loads up the personalised game settings. Access different game scenarios by switching the inputs without having to readjust settings on different inputs. Perfect for games with multiple gaming platforms!
