The Download on the new iPad Air
iPad Air: 2 Sizes
Now available in 2 sizes (for the first time ever, at that), the redesigned 11″ and brand new 13″ iPad Air is now powered by the M2 chip. The 11″ iPad Air remains very compact and portable, and the new 13″ iPad Air comes with a larger display real estate for more opportunities to maximise one’s usage of the device.
iPad Air: M2 Chip
The M2 chip amps up the iPad Air’s performance department, with a faster 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU. The new iPad Air is approximately 50% faster than the M1 iPad Air, and if you are coming off an older generation iPad Air, you will definitely feel the boost in performance and speed.
The new iPad Air now has a more efficient 16-core Neural Engine that is 40% faster than M1. With AI being a huge player in the tech space, you can now do more with AI on the new iPad Air. Everyday use of AI include smart iPadOS features like Visual Look Up, Subject Lift, or Live Text. Developers can tap into the Neural Engine to unleash powerful AI features on device with the new iPad Air, thanks to Core ML on iPadOS.
iPad Air: Landscape Front-Facing Camera
The new iPad Air comes with the Ultra Wide 12MP front-facing camera that is now located along the landscape side of the device, which is a much-welcomed refresh. The new camera is perfectly situated now, as it is the most common orientation for iPad users. Centre Stage leverages machine learning (ML) to automatically keep friends and family in the field of view over FaceTime calls.
What To Expect with the New iPad Pro
iPad Pro: Thinnest Apple Product. Ever.
Touted as the thinnest Apple product ever, the new 11″ iPad Pro is stunningly thin at just 5.3mm, and the new 13″ model is even thinner at just 5.1mm.
iPad Pro: Most Advanced Display
The new iPad Pro comes with the Ultra Retina XDR which features something called Tandem OLED technology. Tandem OLED basically leverages 2 OLED panels to provide a striking full-screen brightness experience to users. Tandem OLED also takes XDR precision to the next level, with photos and videos appearing way more vibrant on-screen, and the details in shadows are even more prominent. The new iPad Pro now goes up to 1,000 nits of full-screen brightness for SDR & HDR content, and 1,600 nits peak for HDR.
iPad Pro: M4 Chip
The new iPad Pro is powered by the brand new M4 chip – a monumental milestone of Apple silicon that boasts a huge performance boost. The new CPU now has 4 performance cores and 6 efficiency cores, with the latest machine learning (ML) accelerators that deliver up to 1.5x faster CPU performance as compared to previous iPad Pros. M4 expanded the GPU structure of M3, and the 10-core GPU now includes Dynamic Caching and hardware-accelerated mesh shading and ray tracing. If compared against the M2, M4 allows the new iPad Pro deliver the same performance – but at simply half the power.
iPad Pro: Pro Cameras
The new iPad Pro has been outfitted with an updated camera system which allows users to capture vibrant Smart HDR photos and videos with better detailing. Leveraging AI, the new iPad Pro will allow documents to be identified right in the Camera app. If the Camera app picks up on a shadow in the same frame as the documents, it will instantly take multiple shots with the new adaptive flash and stitch the scan together for a much better scan of the documents.
