According to a report by NBC News, Justin Roiland, the creator of the TV series Rick and Morty and the recently released video game High on Life, has been charged with domestic violence against a former girlfriend.
A criminal complaint was filed against Roiland in May 2020 by the Orange County District Attorney, and he was arrested and released on a $50,000 bond in August 2020. He pleaded not guilty to the charges of “one felony count of domestic battery with corporal injury and one felony count of false imprisonment by menace, violence, fraud and/or deceit” in October of that year.
Roiland has a protective order filed against him which lasts until October 2023, he’s also scheduled to appear in court for a pre-trial hearing.
