Our picks of the week: Gran Turismo 7, Garmin Venu 2 Plus and more

Every week, there are plenty of new products emerging in the consumer tech realm. At times, it becomes impossible to cover all of them. Here, we pick the new products of the week and deliver them to you in bite-size format.

Gran Turismo 7
From S$79.90, available on Mar 4 in Lazada and Shopee

It is not every day you get to see the launch of a Gran Turismo driving simulation game. The PlayStation-exclusive Gran Turismo 6 was released way back in 2013, but Gran Turismo 7 will be launched on Mar 22 this year.

You can start pre-ordering the game from authorised PlayStation (PS) dealers and Sony Stores now. There is a standard physical edition for PS4 and PS5 as well as a 25th-anniversary edition. Pre-order of any edition will give you 100,000 in-game credits and a three-car pack. The 25th-anniversary edition includes an exclusive SteelBook case, 1 million in-game credits, special in-game Toyota GR Yaris car, special avatars and official soundtrack.

Garmin Venu 2 Plus
S$669, available in Lazada and Shopee

Garmin’s Venu 2 smartwatch gets a Plus upgrade. Apart from doing what the Venu 2 already can do like sleep tracking, wellness and fitness features, the Venu 2 Plus is able to make and take phone calls with the press of a button.

In addition, the new fitness smartwatch is compatible with many voice assistants like Siri, Google Assistant and Bixby. Thus, you can use your smartphone’s voice assistant to send messages or control smart home devices straight from the Venu 2 Plus. The watch will be available in three colours of black, gold and grey.

JBL Quantum TWS
Pricing and availability to be confirmed

This is JBL’s first true wireless gaming in-ear headphones. The Quantum TWS features JBL QuantumSurround technology for spatial surround sound, so you know where the in-coming virtual shots are coming from.

In addition, it comes with adaptive noise cancellation and ambient aware features for you to stay alert by minimising distractions. An USB-C dongle is included to offer a low-latency connection whether you are on a PC or Nintendo Switch.

Pharoah PC
From S$2,499, available in Kingdom e-store

Another local gaming PC maker is here in the form of Kingdom Technologies. And it is launching a new gaming PC series known as Pharaoh.

The Pharaoh PC runs on AMD Ryzen 5600X processor with Asus Dual GeForce RTX 3060 V2 OC Edition GPU with 12GB of video memory as well as 16GB of Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro RAM for smooth gaming performance. Its chassis includes two Axial-tech fans to maximise airflow for optimised cooling performance.

vivo Y76 5G
S$429, available today in Lazada and Shopee

Looking for an affordable smartphone that charges fast? Consider the new vivo Y76 5G. It supports 44W FlashCharge technology, allowing it to be charged from zero to 70% in just 32 minutes. Or zero to full in 56 minutes.

Furthermore, this smartphone is pretty thin at only 7.79mm thick and weighs only 175g. It comes with a rear triple-camera system consisting of a 50-megapixel (MP) main camera, a 2MP bokeh camera and a 2MP macro camera. You can get the smartphone from two colours of cosmic aurora and midnight space.

Trevor Tan

Started out with dreams to become a street photographer, Trevor Tan somehow became a tech journalist with over 16 years of consumer tech experience. Maybe he plays too much video games and buys too many new gadgets.
