MWC 2022: Huawei announced new products including its first all-in-one PC, and unveiled its Super Device concept

During a virtual event ahead of Mobile World Congress (MWC) – the annual mobile technology convention happening from Feb 28 to Mar 3, 2022 – Huawei announced a slew of gadgets, from its first all-in-one PC to a laser printer.

The Chinese tech giant has been pivoting to laptops and tablets, as its smartphones are still unable to run Google Mobile Services due to the trade ban. With this latest announcements, Huawei looks set to expand its repertoire beyond smartphones.

NEW PRODUCTS
New products announced at MWC 2022 include three firsts from Huawei – its first all-in-one desktop PC, first HarmonyOS printer and first E-Ink tablet – as well as its latest flagship laptop, a new 2-in-1 laptop, a new HarmonyOS tablet and a new portable speaker.

Huawei’s first all-in-one desktop PC is the MateStation X. It looks like the MateView (read review here) monitor with its minimalist aesthetic design and a large 28.2-inch 4K display. The display also has a non-reflective layer and supports 10-point multi-touch for a premium viewing experience.

Making its first inroads into the laser printer business is Huawei’s PixLab X1. This multi-function laser printer copies, scans and prints, making working and learning from home much easier. It is also the industry’s first printer to feature a tone cartridge drawer design for easy pigment replacement, according to Huawei.

For consumers who prefer a better reading experience, Huawei’s first E-Ink tablet MatePad Paper is here. It features a 10.3-inch E-Ink FullView Display with an 86.3% screen-to-body ratio. It can be used with 2nd generation Huawei M-Pencil for multiple input methods, such as handwriting, voice recording, and handwriting-to-text conversion.

The latest flagship laptop from Huawei is the MateBook X Pro. It is equipped with a 14.2-inch 3.1K-resolution display in a sleek wedge-shaped body weighing only 1.38kg and runs on AMD Ryzen 7 processor.

Another new addition is Huawei MateBook E. It is Huawei’s new 2-in-1 laptop and its first OLED laptop, At only 7.9mm thick and 709g light, it is said to be world’s lightest portable 2-in-1 laptop by its maker.

Other new products include the new HarmonyOS MatePad tablet that boasts a 10.4-inch 2K display and a new portable speaker Sound Joy that is co-engineered with French luxury audio brand Devialet.

At the moment, there is no word on the local pricing and availability of these new products announced by Huawei.

SUPER DEVICE
These products are part of Huawei’s Super Device concept to create smart offices and fresh experiences to consumers globally. Unveiled during the virtual event, a Huawei device is able to easily connect and collaborate with other Huawei devices for a smarter experience in this Super Device ecosystem.

For instance, images and files can be quickly transferred via a drag and drop interface from the PC to a supported Huawei smartphone. A Huawei PC can also quickly connect to Huawei’s speakers or printers.

The newly-announced MateBook X Pro, MateStation X, MateBook E, MatePad Paper, and MatePad can all be utilised in this Super Device ecosystem.
