Huawei’s new tablets – MatePad Pro and MatePad 11 – will be available from tomorrow (14 Aug). They will be the first tablets from Huawei to run its fledging HarmonyOS.
As you might expect, Huawei’s HarmonyOS will allow for a more seamless experience from quicker access to apps to doubling up as a portable monitor for supported PCs. Huawei was forced to start its own mobile operating system after a US ban prohibited the Chinese tech giant for using Google Mobile Services.
The MatePad Pro (S$998, available in Lazada and Shopee) is designed for professionals and content creators. Equipped with a 10.8-inch ultra-wide 2K FullView display, the MatePad Pro is said to have the world’s highest screen-to-body ratio (at 90 per cent) for a tablet with its thin bezel of 4.9mm.
Plus, its quad speakers – tuned by Harmon Kardon – offers great audio, including virtual 3D surround sound, to go with the great visuals. Plus, its 7,250mAh battery allows for 11 hours of continuous video playback.
On the other hand, the MatePad 11 (S$698, available in Lazada and Shopee) is the first-ever Huawei tablet to offer a display with a 120Hz refresh rate. This allows for a smoother browsing experience as well as less screen lag when playing games on its 11-inch display.
When used the Smart Magnetic Keyboard – connected via Bluetooth – both tablets can be transformed into laptops. In addition, the improved Huawei M-Pencil (2nd generation) stylus is supported on both tablets for doodling or sketching your masterpiece.
