Asus ROG has joined forces with Berlin-based fashion house, Acronym, to deliver a techwear tablet that merges tech and fashion. The two brands previously collaborated in 2020, releasing a limited edition variant of the ROG Zephyrus G14, which was well-received.
This time, the collaboration has produced a special edition of the Asus ROG Flow Z13, dubbed the ACRNM RMT02, which comes with an Intel Core i9-13900H and Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 laptop GPU. The device boasts a custom aluminum chassis with CNC machined details and rubber holds, which provide grip in all orientations.
One of the standout features of this version is the included carry strap, which allows the tablet to be used in multiple new ways, as well as being worn as an ultra-pricey fashion accessory. Acronym co-founder Errolson Hugh said, “The design idea of the RMTO2 seeks to make a new proposition. We’re trying to reimagine how users interact with the world around them, together with their machine, and do things in a new way.”
To make the project a reality, Hugh employed the expertise of numerous creatives, including feature film concept artist Phil Saunders, best known for designing the iconic Iron Man suit.
The device runs on a Core i9, 32GB of RAM, GeForce RTX 40-series mobile graphics, and a 1TB SSD. It has a 13.4-inch display with a full DCI-P3 color range and a 165Hz refresh rate.
Aside from its tech specs, the tablet has a chassis platform that allows users to attach slings to Acronym jackets, turning it into a fashion accessory. The detachable keyboard is also themed around Acronym colors, and the device features branding on and off-screen.
The ROG Flow Z13-ACRNM RMT02 will be available worldwide starting April 3, 2023, through Amazon and ASUS for USD$2,500, which is more expensive than the regular Z13 priced at USD$1,750. Nonetheless, the device is a conversation piece that merges tech and fashion, and those who are determined to wear it as a fashion accessory will find it a worthwhile investment.
