Apple launches MagSafe Battery Pack

Apple has just dropped a MagSafe bombshell out of the blue. The Cupertino tech giant has launched a MagSafe Battery Pack that you can just snap on the back of any iPhone 12 phone to charge it.

Priced at S$139, it is currently stated as unavailable on Apple Online Store. According to the product information, it is compatible with iPhone 12, 12 mini, 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max. The MagSafe Battery Pack is designed to attach directly to your iPhone or through a case with MagSafe.

For the uninitiated, MagSafe is Apple’s ecosystem of magnetic accessories that allows for easy attachment and faster wireless charging. Currently, Apple offers MagSafe accessories like cases and wallets.

From the looks of it, it seems like the MagSafe Battery Pack will only be available in white. And it is recommended to use a 20W or higher USB-C power adapter and a USB-C-to-Lightning cable to charge it. These two accessories unfortunately will not be included in the box when you buy the MagSafe Battery Pack.

Furthermore, the MagSafe Battery Pack can only work on MagSafe-compatible iPhones running on iOS 14.7 or later. The latest iOS version is currently at 14.6. So, we guess that the MagSafe Battery Pack will only be available when iOS 14.7 gets released. Hopefully, we can get the review unit soon to test it.
