Xiaomi launches flagship 5G smartphones with Mi 11i and Mi 11 Ultra

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has unveiled its flagship smartphones Mi 11i and Mi 11 Ultra as well as a host of other devices including wearable and smart projector.

Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra
The Mi 11 Ultra features the top Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor along with a 6.81-inch (3,200 x 1,440 pixels) 120Hz AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and 480Hz touch sampling rate. The display supports 1 billion colours, Dolby Vision, and HDR10+.

Stunningly, the Mi 11 Ultra comes with a rear 1.1-inch screen that supports always-on display, shows notification alerts and lets you preview your selfies.

Furthermore, it uses a 20-megapixel (MP) front-facing camera and rear triple-camera system consisting of a 48MP ultra-wide-angle camera, a 48MP telephoto (5x optical zoom) camera and a wide-angle camera with a 50MP GN2 image sensor.

This latest GN2 image sensor is close to 1 inch in size, or around 5 times bigger than Apple iPhone 12 Pro’s image sensor. The bigger the image sensor, the more light it can gather and thus theoretically, the better image quality.

All the three cameras are said to be able to shoot 8K videos at 24 frames per second. According to Xiaomi, the Mi 11 Ultra scored 143 in DXOMark camera test, compared to Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra’s 121.

Plus, the Mi 11 Ultra comes with 5,000mAh battery and supports 67W wireless charging. It is priced at 1199 euros or around $1,900. But local pricing and availability have yet to be confirmed.

Xiaomi Mi 11i
At the same time, Xiaomi also introduced the Mi 11i. It comes with a 6.67-inch (2,400 x 1,080 pixels) AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and 360Hz touch sampling rate. But it also features the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor.

While it does not come with GN2 image sensor, its rear triple-camera system includes a 108MP high-resolution wide-angle camera, a 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a 5MP telemacro camera. In front, it has a 20MP selfie camera.

The Mi 11i will be priced at 649 Euros or around S$1,029. Local pricing and availability will be announced later.

Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G
In addition, Xiaomi has designed a lite Mi 11 version for the younger generation. It comes with an ultra-slim light design, weighing no more than 159g and measures just 6.81mm thin.

Its pricing starts from 369 Euros or around S$585. Likewise, local pricing and availability will be announced later.

Xiaomi Smart Band 6 and Mi Smart Projector 2 Pro
Finally, Xiaomi also introduced a smart health wearable with the Smart Band 6. It sports a 1.56-inch full screen AMOLED display, offers 30 workout types and auto-detection for 6 fitness activities. It also tracks your physics activities including SpO2, heart rate and sleep.

And lastly, Xiaomi launched Mi Smart Projector 2 Pro. This smart projector runs on Android TV and offers full high-definition (1,920 x 1,080 pixels) image quality with up to 1300 ANSI lumens brightness.

No details on local availability and pricing for both products.
