Uniqlo launches new Pokémon T-shirts to celebrate the franchise 25th birthday

To celebrate Pokémon’s 25th anniversary, global apparel brand Uniqlo is releasing the Pokémon Meets Artists Uniqlo T-shirt (UT) collection this month.

For this UT collection, Uniqlo is tapping on the talents of New York-based Japanese artist Meguru Yamaguchi and renowned London artist James Jarvis.

Mr Yamaguchi uses his signature brush strokes to show courageous Pokémon in battle. His meticulous work and bright colours result in highly-refined fashion items.

On the other hand, Mr Jarvis presents the playful Pokémon with his own interpretation using his cartoon-style illustrations.

The simple but distinctive treatments by both artists help to enhance the individuality of each Pokémon in the new UT collection.

Both artists’ UTs will available for adults and kids. The adults’ line-up will be released on Oct 25 with pricing starting from S$19.90, while the kids’ line-up (prices start from S$14.90) will be out only later this year.

Started out with dreams to become a street photographer, Trevor Tan somehow became a tech journalist with over 16 years of consumer tech experience. Maybe he plays too much video games and buys too many new gadgets.
