According to sources cited by VideoCardz, the prices of the upcoming RTX 40-series graphics cards from NVIDIA may see a slight reduction. The standard GeForce RTX 4070 is expected to be priced at USD$599, making it more affordable than the RTX 4070 Ti, which is priced at USD$799, but still as much as the 2021 RTX 3070 Ti. It seems that the days of getting an x070 GPU for USD$500 or less are over.
Despite the lower price, the GeForce RTX 4070 is expected to offer better performance than the RTX 3070. It will reportedly have the same 5,888 CUDA core count as the regular 3070, a narrower 192-bit memory bus, but a much higher 1.92GHz base clock speed. In addition, it will come with more RAM (12GB compared to 8GB) and a higher 29 teraflops of 32-bit floating point computing power (compared to 22 for the 3070 Ti). Furthermore, it is expected to use less power than the 3070.
The ‘plain’ GeForce RTX 4070 is set to be released by NVIDIA in mid-April, and if the reported USD$599 price tag is accurate, it could make the latest GeForce lineup more accessible to gamers who have been reluctant to pay over USD$799 for DLSS 3 upscaling and other features. However, the trend of increasing prices across the range is set to continue, with every RTX 40 GPU so far having a reference price at least USD$100 higher than its RTX 30 equivalent.
This may not be an issue for those who are simply looking for the best card within their budget, but it could be a concern for those who want a card that is as close as possible to an earlier high-end model.
As for myself, I am not too concern about getting the best of the best, rather I would want to futureproof myself as much as possible, I believe my current 3060ti could last me till the next generation but only time will tell.
