Microsoft has announced the expansion of its Xbox Design Lab for the Xbox Elite Series 2 controllers with new colors, giving players the freedom to customize their gamepads even further. The new colors are available right now, with 16 main colors for the controller’s top and back cases, 12 colors for the ABXY face buttons, 17 accent colors for the paddles and D-pad, and 25 accent colors that cover the rest of the controller.
When the Xbox Design Lab launched in October 2022, there were limited options available, but now Microsoft has introduced billions of possibilities for personalization. The Xbox Elite Series 2 controller is fully customizable, allowing players to adjust the thumbsticks, rubberized grips, trigger locks, and even includes button mapping. The controller also allows for different profiles to be saved, meaning players won’t have to constantly make adjustments to various schemes.
New colors available for the Xbox Elite Series 2 controller include Garnet Red, Glacier Blue, and Deep Pink, among many others. Additionally, there are extra thumbsticks, a paddles pack, a carrying case, and a charging pack available for purchase.
Microsoft has also launched the Inspired By collection, where game studios have designed Xbox controllers inspired by classic Xbox characters and franchises. The Elite 2 controllers were added to the Design Lab in October, allowing players to fully customize the triggers, D-pad, thumbsticks, and more. The Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 – Core now comes in new red and blue colors.
The Elite 2 controller is a fancy controller with handy tweaks to the original, but its experience suffers from faults that shouldn’t be present in this price range. Despite this, the original Xbox Elite controller is now cheaper and has almost the same functionality without the issues.
At first I was hesitant of getting the xbox elite 2 controller due to its high price tag, but now with the addition of customization, I might consider getting one now since I can customize it to a design that I want. It is also interesting to see what other people have created in the community gallery, for example the EVA-01 design really caught my eye.
