All three kings of console gaming manufacturers looks like they’re skipping E3’s big return.
E3 2023 will take place from June 13-16 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, with the last two days open to the public. The event is being organized by the Entertainment Software Association and ReedPop, the company behind other pop culture events like Star Wars Celebration and PAX.
E3 2023 was supposed to be a major event for the gaming world, bringing back the excitement of past gaming conventions. But it looks like three major players won’t be there. Xbox, Sony, and Nintendo won’t attend E3 2023 or have any presence at the LA Convention Center, according to multiple sources.
This follows Xbox’s recent announcement about their return to LA for their annual summer showcase, but they didn’t say if they’ll be part of E3. Xbox CEO Phil Spencer told IGN that they’re timing their showcase to be convenient for press and even consumers, so it’s probably gonna be around the same time as E3. He also showed support for E3 and the Entertainment Software Association (ESA). However, IGN says Xbox won’t have a booth at the show.
While it’s exciting to have the first physical E3 in four years, it seems like the digital showcases have taken over and the major players won’t be there. It may take a while for E3 to regain its former glory.
