LG might not be selling smartphones anymore, but you can visit its virtual islands on Animal Crossing: New Horizons

LG might not have been good in selling its smartphones but it is certainly pretty successful in creating virtual islands in the Nintendo Switch game Animal Crossing: New Horizons (ACNH).

For the uninitiated, ACNH allows its player to build their own virtual island paradise with a few cutesy animal residents. Released last year during the pandemic, it became a much needed respite for people stuck at home. It has sold more than 31 million copies worldwide.

LG says it is the first-ever consumer electronics company to have its own islands – OLED ISLAND and LIT ISLAND – in ACNH. Players can visit the OLED ISLAND and LIT ISLAND by using the codes DA-7677-3136-5978 and DA-2218-2553-1949 respectively.

It took several months to build the islands, as everything had to be done manually, according to LG.

On the OLED ISLAND, players can visit special zones filled with LG OLED products, such as the home cinema zone and the Self-Lit Gallery. They can hunt for hidden treasure across the island – a total of 40 wrapped gifts – each with a virtual TV inside.

For the LIT ISLAND, there will be a gaming zone, music studio, gym, football field, baseball field and basketball court all featuring LG OLED TVs. This island also provides hidden pathways for players to explore and a special in-game prize can be even earned.

While LG did not say when they will close the islands, it expects to keep the islands open long enough for as many people to see and enjoy.
