The information was revealed in a press event at National Gallery where Huawei showcased the P50 Pro and its latest foldable smartphone P50 Pocket. Both smartphones run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 4G chip and are powered by Huawei’s EMUI 12 operating system with its own AppGallery.

Huawei’s P series has been renowned for its cameras and the P50 Pro is no different. Its slender 8.5mm body houses a 6.6-inch display with 120Hz refresh rate. But yet, it houses a dual-matrix rear camera system consisting of a 50-megapixel (MP) primary wide-angle camera, a 40MP monochrome wide-angle camera, a 13MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a 64MP telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom. On the other hand, the P50 Pocket is a fashionista’s choice. Huawei collaborated with haute couture designer Iris van Herpen to create the P50 Pocket Premium Edition.

Using multi-dimensional hinge and its exclusive multi-dimensional lifting design, Huawei says the P50 Pocket is able to fold seamlessly, and unfold to produce a smooth 6.9-inch screen. In other words, it has no gaps usually found in other foldable smartphones when folded. And it does not have a visible crease when unfolded.

The use of materials such as Zirconium-based liquid metal and ultra-high-strength steel help to improve the reliability and durability of the folding mechanism, according to Huawei.

Even when folded, a circular 1-inch Cover Screen delivers notifications for you to access information quickly. The P50 Pockets features a triple-camera system 40MP wide-angle camera, a 13MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a 32MP ultra-spectrum (colour boosting) camera.

The P50 Pocket Premium Edition has a local launch date too. It will be available from Feb 14 only in Premium Gold model. The black and white models are not available in Singapore. However, P50 Pocket does not have a pricing yet. Huawei says pricing will be revealed closer to launch.

If you are interested to check out the P50 Pro or P50 Pocket, you can head down to the new Huawei Authorised Store (opens daily from 11am to 9pm) at 313@Somerset for a hands-on from tomorrow (Jan 14) onwards.
