Apple announces Mar 8 event – its first in 2022

The rumours were right. Apple just announced that it will be holding its first event of 2022 on Mar 8, 10am, Pacific Time (Mar 9, 2am, Singapore Time). The Cupertino tech giant sent out media invites with a multi-coloured Apple logo and a tagline of “Peek performance”.

Again, due to the raging Covid-19 pandemic, this event will be a fully virtual affair. Traditionally, Apple’s spring events have always been the low-key one compared to others in its calendar. Last year, the spring event did not happen until Apr. Then, Apple announced the AirTags, a new iMac and new iPad Pros during that event.

This year, Apple is likely to announce a new iPhone SE 3 and an updated iPad Air with both featuring the A15 chip and 5G connectivity. We might see the launch of a new Mac mini and an entry-level MacBook Pro. Given that the upcoming iOS 15.4, iPadOS 15.4 and macOS 12.3 will be launched early Mar, it is highly probable these new Apple products might reach our shores sooner than expected.

You will know for sure what are the new Apple products when you watch the event live-streamed on Apple website, Apple TV app and Apple’s YouTube channel on Mar 9, 2am, Singapore Time. So, stay tuned.
