Sony unveils new PlayStation 5 VR controllers with adaptive triggers, finger-touch detection and more

Many PlayStation fans still haven’t got their hands on the new PlayStation 5 (PS5) even though it was launched last Nov. But Sony is already busy unveiling the next-generation virtual reality (VR) controllers for the PS5.

The new VR controllers feature an orb shape design that allows you to hold the controllers naturally while offering great degree of freedom.

Each VR controller also includes an adaptive trigger button – similar to the PS5 DualSense controller. The new controllers will have haptic feedback that allows you to feel the “punch” during fights.

In addition, each VR controller detect your fingers without having to press the the areas where you rest your thumb, index or middle fingers.

The VR controller will be tracked by the new PS5 VR headset through a tracking ring across the bottom of the controller. However, Sony has yet to show off the next-generation VR headset for the PS5.

Mr Hideaki Nishino, PlayStation’s senior vice president of platform planning and management, said the prototypes of the new VR controller will be in the hands of the developers soon. Wonder if the developers will get the next-generation PS5 VR headset as well? Maybe the leaks will come soon too.
