Released today, the latest system software update – released for Sony PlayStation 5 (PS5) finally allows you to store your PS5 games on external USB drives. That is, if you are lucky enough to own a PS5 gaming console.
With this update, you can now transfer your PS5 games to external USB drives from the gaming console’s limited 825GB of internal storage.
However, you still cannot play the PS5 games from the external USB drives. But it is still faster to re-install the PS5 games than to re-download them.
If you have an external USB drive that was used with your PS4 console previously, you can connect it to your PS5 console. You can access and play any PS4 games from the external drive using the PS5.
In addition, the update is packed with many new features and improvements. For instance, there are new social features like Share Play for PS4 and PS5 console players.
This means PS5 console users can let their friends on PS4 consoles view their game screen, or even try out the PS5 games through Share Play. Yes, make them jealous of your PS5 console.
There are also enhanced control and personalisations options for PS5 consoles. These include improved Game Base menu for quicker access to important content and features.
Also, you can now quickly disable in-game chat or adjust individual voice chat volume of other players. So you do not have to ask them to do so.
The new update also allows game developers to enable pre-download for game updates. In other words, as long as the “automatic updates” setting is enabled and your console is turned on or in rest mode, the updates will be pre-downloaded to your console. You can start playing the latest version of a game immediately after the update’s release.
