A new way to experience the iconic FPS franchise on the tabletop
Fans of Call of Duty may be disappointed by the lack of a new video game installment this year, but they can look forward to a different kind of gaming experience with Call of Duty: The Board Game. The tabletop strategy game is a collaboration between Activision and Arcane Wonders, and it will launch on Kickstarter in Fall 2023, followed by a worldwide release in 2024.
A board game that captures the essence of Call of Duty
Call of Duty: The Board Game will feature familiar maps and characters from the COD series, as well as miniatures of the elite Operators and weapons. Players will have to use strategy, tactics, and combat skills to complete various scenarios, objectives, and game modes. The game will also boast high-quality artwork that showcases the rich history and lore of the franchise. The announcement trailer gave a glimpse of some of the characters, such as Ghost from Modern Warfare II, and the board game box.
A passion project from life-long COD fans
Bryan Pope, one of the lead designers and CEO of Arcane Wonders, expressed his excitement about working with Activision to bring Call of Duty to the tabletop. He said that he and his team were life-long COD fans who wanted to create a board game that COD fans and board gamers alike would enjoy. He added that he hoped to deliver an intense and immersive gaming experience that would make game night unforgettable.
